In the highly anticipated match between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Mohsin Khan and Marcus Stoinis were the standout performers.
Despite Mayank Yadav‘s return to the game after an injury, he seemed to struggle, bowling 3 overs and only managing to take 1 wicket. He was spotted chatting with Jasprit Bumrah after the match.
Heartwarming gesture of Jasprit Bumrah
Following the match, Mayank made his way back onto the field where he engaged in a conversation with Bumrah, accompanied by fellow LSG pacer Yash Thakur. Bumrah’s firsthand experience with injury setbacks is apparent, having encountered his own hurdles, including missing the IPL and significant tournaments like the 2022 T20 World Cup due to a severe back injury that sidelined him for over a year.
Bumrah was observed sharing bowling advice with Mayank. The newcomer was noted for attentively absorbing every insight from the seasoned Indian bowler. Even Yash, positioned next to Mayank, was seen eagerly embracing Bumrah’s valuable guidance.

LSG secures their sixth victory in IPL 2024
After being assigned to bat first, MI managed to put up a below-par total of 144/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Despite a rough start, Nehal Wadhera‘s resilient 46 off 41 balls and Tim David‘s explosive innings of 35 off 18 balls, boasting a blistering strike rate of 195 including 3 boundaries and a massive six, helped lift their score. Mohsin proved to be a key player for LSG, claiming 2 important wickets in his 4-over spell.
In response, LSG got off to a strong start, reaching 52/1 after the power play. However, MI made a comeback in the middle overs, though it wasn’t enough to secure a win. Stoinis played a commendable innings of 62 off 45 balls with a strike rate of 138. Hardik Pandya impressed with the ball for MI, bowling 4 overs and conceding only 26 runs while taking 2 wickets. Stoinis was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance.
