The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) clinched victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on May 26. This win marked KKR’s third IPL title, positioning them as the league’s third most successful team.

Opting to bat first, the SRH could only muster a total of 113 runs before being all out in the 19th over. KKR then confidently chased down the target in just the 11th over. Australian pacer Mitchell Starc‘s exceptional bowling prowess earned him the Player of the Match award. After the match, the KKR wicket-keeper batter Phil Salt joined the team celebration.

Following KKR’s triumphant title win, Salt virtually connected with the team, sparking immense joy and surprise. Bharat Arun, KKR’s esteemed bowling coach, lauded Salt’s outstanding performance both in a call and through a video appearance, further enhancing the celebratory atmosphere among the team and fans alike.

Salt’s remarkable performance in IPL 2024

Salt’s performance in the 17th season of IPL was exceptional. Across 12 matches, he showcased his prowess by amassing 435 runs at an impressive average of 35, boasting a striking rate of 176. Notably, he notched up 6 half-centuries, contributing significantly to his team.

His partnerships with Sunil Narine for KKR were particularly noteworthy, underscoring his value to the team. Despite featuring in just 12 matches, he secured the position of the 2nd highest run-scorer for KKR.

The English batter exited the IPL before the playoffs, returning to fulfil his national duties for the upcoming T20I series against Pakistan. Furthermore, he has been named in the England squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Having represented the English team in 22 T20 internationals, he has showcased his batting prowess by amassing 652 runs at a striking rate of 165, while also registering two centuries for his country.
