In the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) emerged victorious over Delhi Capitals (DC) by a margin of 47 runs, thus keeping their playoff aspirations alive.

Sent in to bat first, RCB opted for an aggressive batting approach. Despite this, DC managed to stage a strong resurgence in the last five overs, conceding only 49 runs and taking 5 wickets, restricting RCB to a total of 187/9. Although RCB’s score fell short of the anticipated 200-run mark, it still posed a formidable challenge to DC. In their chase, DC’s batters struggled against RCB’s bowling attack and were eventually bowled out for 140 runs in 19.1 overs, falling short of the target.

Following the victory, the dressing room was electric, with jubilant celebrations unfolding among the RCB players. Amidst the revelry, teammates joined together to sing the RCB anthem, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie. Adding to the jovial atmosphere, RCB star players indulged in light-hearted banter. The video of their jovial exchange quickly gained traction on social media.

Mohammed Siraj, Karn Sharma and Virat Kohli’s humorous encounter

In a video posted by RCB, Mohammed Siraj was seen commending his team’s comeback in the tournament. However, his statement, ‘batter has a bat, and the bowler has a bowl,’ left Karn Sharma puzzled. He sought clarification from Siraj, who struggled to explain. This led to an amusing banter between Sharma, Siraj, and Virat Kohli. Kohli jokingly suggested that Siraj should claim he only sees stumps. The funny interaction concluded with Sharma mocking Siraj by imitating his ‘Siuuuu’ celebration. This exchange left Kohli and Sharma in fits of laughter.

Tough path for RCB ahead

Sitting at the 5th position on the points table, RCB must continue to exert maximum effort and rely on favourable outcomes to secure a top-four finish in the league stage. RCB will face a crucial match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 18, where they must secure a significant victory. Even with a win, the playoff prospects of the team led by Faf du Plessis hinge on the results of other teams’ matches.
