Pakistan are on a tour of Ireland, where they are set to participate in a three-match T20I series. The series commences with the first match between Ireland and Pakistan on Friday (May 10) at the Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin. This series holds significant importance for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir, who came out of retirement in March this year to make himself available for the upcoming global event, was also included in Pakistan’s squad. However, he will not be playing the first match of the series.
Reason for Mohammad Amir’s absence from the game
The Pakistan cricket team reached Ireland on Tuesday. However, Amir, a key member of the squad, encountered a delay in obtaining his visa, which necessitated him staying back. Despite this setback, it’s anticipated that Amir will join the Pakistan team in Dublin on Friday, just ahead of the first T20I match. Unfortunately, due to his delayed arrival, Amir will not be able to participate in the opening encounter.
According to reports from Geo News, Amir boarded a flight bound for Dublin at 3:30 am on Friday. Although he will miss the first T20I, fans can anticipate his availability for selection in the upcoming fixtures. The second and third T20Is are scheduled to take place on May 12 and May 14, respectively, providing Amir with an opportunity to contribute to the team’s efforts in the remainder of the series.
