Amidst the often distant world of celebrity, Janhvi Kapoor, a rising Bollywood actress at 27, brings a refreshing change.
During the promotion of her upcoming sports drama ‘Mr. & Mrs. Mahi,’ Janhvi shared a heartwarming and personal encounter with the cricketing legend, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Janhvi Kapoor’s recent meeting with MS Dhoni
Janhvi’s admiration for Dhoni was not just a passing fancy, but a deep-rooted respect. She described him as a ‘mesmerizing presence’ who exudes an almost magical aura. Her words were not mere flattery, but a genuine appreciation for his understated charisma, a quality that has endeared him to millions.
Recalling a recent event, Janhvi said, “I and everyone here, I believe, are huge fans of Mahendra Singh Dhoni sir. He has this aura which just sways you away. A few days ago, I was at a function with him. As I saw him moving around, I felt he wasn’t walking but gliding.”

And it was Dhoni’s remarkable humility and genuine interaction with fans that truly won Janhvi’s heart. “He didn’t just take selfies and disappear,” she explained. “He actually had conversations with people and treated everyone with the utmost respect.”
In a world where fame can sometimes inflate egos, Janhvi found Dhoni’s grounded nature deeply inspiring. “For someone of his stature to be so humble speaks volumes about his character,” she said. “It’s his aura and his conduct that are truly inspiring, and these are the qualities we aimed to portray in our film.”
‘I am a fan of that and his game’: Janhvi Kapoor
There’s no novelty in Janhvi conveying her admiration for Dhoni. On the sets of Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the IPL 2024, she recounted how MSD handled a fan who trespassed onto the Ahmedabad pitch during the match against Gujarat Titans (GT) to touch his feet.
“I recently saw a video in which a fan had come near the pitch to meet MS Dhoni. The way Dhoni handled it was that he behaved very nicely with that fan. The security didn’t just enter and escort him out. He was so protective of him and showed that person a lot of respect. So, these things tell you a lot about someone,” said Janhvi.
“He is such a dignified presence, and I am a fan of that and his game. And, of course, his hat-trick of sixes against Mumbai [Indians] was too good,” she added with a smile on her face.
