Pakistan names Women squad for England tour

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Wednesday, revealed the Women’s squad for the upcoming tour of England. The Pakistan team is set to compete in both the ODI and T20I series on English soil. Nida Dar maintains her role as the leader of the Women in Green.

Notably, neither Sidra Nawaz nor the experienced Bismah Maroof, who recently declared her retirement from international cricket, have been selected for the squad. These two players are the sole exclusions from the team currently engaged in a white-ball series against the West Indies.

Pakistan’s recent performance

Pakistan’s recent performance against the West Indies saw them losing the ODI series 0-3 and conceding the T20I series 3-0, with two games remaining. They will be looking to bounce back in the upcoming England tour.

Tour details

The tour of England kicks off with a T20I series starting on May 11, followed by the ODI series from May 23. The ODI series is part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, marking Pakistan’s eighth and final series in the current cycle.

Qualification stakes

With 16 points, Pakistan currently occupy the fifth position in the ICC Women’s Championship. The top five teams, along with hosts India, will secure direct qualification for the 2025 Women’s World Cup.
