On Tuesday, April 30, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled Team India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, slated to take place in the West Indies and the United States of America (USA) this June.
Among the notable selections is Sanju Samson, who secured his place alongside Rishabh Pant, edging out competitors Ishan Kishan, Jitesh Sharma, and KL Rahul to become one of the two wicketkeepers in the Men in Blue squad.

Sanju earned his maiden call-up to the Indian squad for an ICC event, marking a significant milestone in his career. Expressing his sentiments on the selection, Sanju took to Instagram, captioning his post with words that resonated deeply: “Sweat stitched shirt,” symbolizing the relentless effort he has invested to seize this momentous opportunity.

Sanju’s performance in IPL 2024
In the 17th season of Indian Premier League (IPL), Sanju has displayed exceptional batting prowess, amassing 385 runs in nine innings at a stellar strike rate of 161, with an impressive average of 77, including four half-centuries. His recent unbeaten 71 off 33 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) underscored his ability to dominate. Remarkably, he remained unbeaten four times in nine innings. As captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), he led the team to victory in eight out of nine matches, securing the top spot in the points table. Sanju’s stellar performance with the bat and leadership skills were instrumental in the team’s success, marking him as a standout performer in the tournament.

In addition to Sanju and Rishabh, India’s squad features familiar faces such as Suryakumar Yadav, Virat Kohli, and Hardik Pandya.
