Namibia have named their 16-man squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024, to be held in the West Indies and USA, with experienced all-rounder David Wiese retaining his spot.
4th T20 World Cup for David Wiese
The 38-year-old Wiese, born in South Africa, will be featuring in his fourth T20 World Cup. He previously represented his native South Africa in the 2016 edition but switched allegiance to Namibia, his father’s birth country. Wiese was a key part of the Namibian squads at the 2021 and 2022 World Cups.
Namibia will be banking on Wiese’s all-round skills. His experience playing in both the West Indies and the USA will also be valuable. Wiese played for the St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2021 and 2022, and was part of the victorious MI New York team in the inaugural Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament in the US last year.

Surprise omissions in the Namibian squad
Gerhard Erasmus will lead the Namibian charge as captain. Some surprising omissions from the squad include the fastest T20I centurion Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton,veteran Pikky Ya France and young batter Shawn Fouche
Namibia has been placed in Group B for the tournament alongside England, Australia, Scotland and Oman. Their matches will be played in Barbados and Antigua.
