Preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024 are currently underway, with the tournament set to kick off on June 1st in both the USA and the West Indies.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) revealed on Tuesday that they have enlisted the expertise of Dwayne Bravo, a cricketing legend from the West Indies, as the Bowling Consultant for their national team in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Bravo will be linking up with the squad during their pre-tournament camp in the Caribbean to aid in their preparations for this prestigious event.

ACB has appointed DJ Bravo as their bowling consultant, highlighting his accomplishments in the world of competitive cricket.

“The 40-year-old Bravo was a former right-arm medium-fast bowling all-rounder for West Indies, having played 295 international matches, scoring 6423 runs and picking up 363 wickets. He has also 100 FC, 227 List A and a mammoth 573 T20 caps to his name,” ACB’s official statement.

Bravo proudly adorned his national colours in a remarkable total of 295 matches, spanning various formats. Within these contests, he showcased his prowess with the bat, amassing an impressive tally of 6423 runs, punctuated by five centuries and 27 half-centuries.

Not only did he excel with the bat, but Bravo also proved his mettle with the ball, claiming 363 wickets. Notably, he achieved the milestone of a five-wicket haul on three occasions and a four-wicket haul an impressive 15 times throughout his illustrious career.

T20 World Cup appearances of Afghanistan

Afghanistan is eagerly anticipating the T20 World Cup 2024, having participated in the global event six times previously. However, they have yet to meet their aspirations on the international stage. Despite consistent appearances, they have never advanced to the knockout rounds.

In the 2022 edition, Afghanistan failed to secure a single victory during the league stage. Similarly, in 2021, their attempt to qualify saw them win only two matches in the league stage, resulting in a fourth-place position in their group’s points table.
