Dayalan Hemalatha shines in India's win over Bangladesh in the second Women's T20I

India Women extended their dominance over Bangladesh in the second Women’s T20I, securing a comprehensive 19-run win in the rain-affected match on Tuesday, April 30 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Dayalan Hemalatha‘s stellar performance proved pivotal in India’s triumph, earning her the Player of the Match award.

India’s spinners shine

After electing to bat, Bangladesh Women found themselves struggling against the Indian bowling attack. Despite Murshida Khatun‘s valiant effort of 46 runs, Bangladesh could only manage a total of 119 runs before being bowled out.

Radha Yadav emerged as the standout bowler for India, claiming 3 wickets for 19 runs. Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil also contributed significantly, each securing 2 wickets. Renuka Singh, however, had an off day, conceding 40 runs in her spell.

Dayalan Hemalatha’s heroics and rain intervention

India’s batting innings commenced on a shaky note with Shafali Verma departing on a golden duck. However, Smriti Mandhana and Hemalatha steadied the ship with a crucial partnership. Hemalatha, in particular, showcased her aggressive batting style, accumulating 41 runs off just 24 deliveries. As rain interrupted play in the sixth over, India found themselves comfortably ahead of the DLS par score, largely due to Hemalatha’s onslaught.
