Virat Kohli has silenced his critics with a phenomenal run in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The 35-year-old batter, currently playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), leads the tournament in run-scoring with a staggering 661 runs in just 13 matches.

Kohli’s dominant form includes an impressive average of 66.10 and a blistering strike rate of 155.16. He’s smashed five fifties and a century, proving his ability to both anchor the innings and accelerate when needed.

Shutting down the doubters

Kohli’s recent success comes after facing criticism regarding his strike rate in previous seasons. However, his current form is a clear response to those doubts, showcasing his ability to adapt and dominate in the fast-paced environment of the IPL.

Kohli’s ultimate street cricket team

In a lighthearted chat with Jio Cinema, Kohli revealed his picks for the ultimate street cricket team. With the limitation of choosing just four players (including a wicketkeeper, a bowler and a batter), Kohli opted for some familiar names.

  • Wicketkeeper-batter: AB de Villiers (former RCB teammate)
  • Fast bowler: Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)
  • All-rounder: Andre Russell (Kolkata Knight Riders)
  • Spin bowler: Rashid Khan (Gujarat Titans)

“Along with me, the keeper batter would be, in my opinion, AB de Villiers. There’ll be Jasprit Bumrah. That makes it three. There will be Andre Russell. That makes it four. And there will be Rashid Khan. That makes it five,” Kohli said.

Kohli’s picks highlight his respect for both explosive batting power and skilful bowling in a street cricket setting. The inclusion of his former teammate, de Villiers, adds a nostalgic touch, showcasing the duo’s past success together at RCB.
