Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a stellar performance in the IPL 2024 last night, securing their spot in the playoffs with an 18-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI). The match, held at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium, witnessed a gripping contest between two IPL powerhouses. KKR, led by Shreyas Iyer, displayed remarkable resilience as they defended a total of 157 runs against a formidable MI lineup.

The KKR innings was anchored by Venkatesh Iyer, who contributed a crucial 42 runs, supported by Nitish Rana‘s solid 33. Despite the bowling efforts of Jasprit Bumrah and Piyush Chawla, who claimed two wickets each for MI, KKR managed to post a competitive total.

In response, MI fought valiantly, with Ishan Kishan top-scoring with 40 runs and Tilak Varma adding 32 runs. However, KKR’s bowlers, led by Varun Chakravarthy‘s impressive figures of 2-17, and Sunil Narine‘s economical spell, restricted MI to 139/8 in their allotted 16 overs.

As the match concluded, KKR became the first team to book a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs.
