Bangladesh hosted Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday. The low-scoring thriller saw the hosts capturing a 5-run victory and maintain their unbeaten run in the 5-match series, registering their 4th consecutive victory.
High class bowling from Zimbabwe pack Bangladesh at a below-par score
Opting to bowl first, Zimbabwe restricted Bangladesh to a modest total of 143 runs in 19.5 overs. Tanzid Hasan, opening the innings, top-scored with 52 runs off 37 balls, including 7 boundaries and a six. Soumya Sarkar contributed a valuable 41 runs off 34 balls. However, the remaining batting lineup failed to make significant contributions as Zimbabwe’s bowlers contained them effectively.
Luke Jongwe emerged as the standout bowler for Zimbabwe, claiming a three-wicket haul while conceding 20 runs in 3 overs. Additionally, Brian Bennett and Richard Ngarava also made notable contributions, each taking 2 wickets.
Brian Bennett dual dismissal grabs attention
Bennett played a pivotal role in limiting Bangladesh’s score by dismissing two crucial batters from their lineup. In the 15th over of Bangladesh’s innings, Bennett claimed the wickets of seasoned campaigner Shakib Al Hasan and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto.
On the very first delivery of the over, Bennett delivered a well-flighted ball from around the wicket. Shakib misjudged the line and the ball sneaked through the gap between bat and pad, crashing into the stumps. Continuing his impressive bowling, Bennett replicated a similar dismissal on the final delivery of the over, clean-bowling Shanto.

Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman take Bangladesh home in a nail-biter
Shakib and Mustafizur Rahman showcased their brilliance as Bangladesh clinched a tense five-run victory. The start of Zimbabwe’s chase was shaky, with Bennett departing for a duck in the opening over. Although Johnathan Campbell‘s resilient knock of 31 off 27 balls kept Zimbabwe’s hopes alive, but Bangladesh consistently struck with crucial breakthroughs and managed to secure a victory. Mustafizur was named Player of the Match for his splendid bowling performance.
