The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 concluded with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerging as the champions. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, KKR dominated the final against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), turning it into a one-sided affair. KKR’s bowlers bundled out SRH for a mere 113 runs, and the team chased down the target in just 10.3 overs to claim their third IPL trophy.
Venky Mysore honours the champions
Following the spectacular victory, KKR CEO Venky Mysore honoured the team for their remarkable performance. In a video shared by KKR on X, Mysore expressed his pride and gratitude towards the players and support staff.
“I just want to congratulate everybody. It’s a very special moment and it’s still surreal. It will take some time for all this to sink in, but huge congratulations to the whole team. You know it can never happen without the combined effort of everyone—those on the front line, those in the back, and everyone else. Big congratulations to the coach, GG, skipper, the whole team, and the support staff. Unbelievable job today,” Mysore said.
Players like Mitchell Starc, Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Venkatesh Iyer were all honoured for their contributions in the final match.

Special award for Shah Rukh Khan
The celebration included a heartwarming moment when Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, the co-owner of KKR, received a special award. SRK was honoured with the ‘Game Change’ award, recognizing his unwavering support and love for the team. KKR CEO expressed his appreciation for SRK’s dedication.
Shah Rukh also expressed his heartfelt thanks and appreciation to, especially to mentor Gautam Gambhir, affectionately referred to as GG. SRK acknowledged that he had not thanked Gambhir personally before and mentioned that they had joked about making Gambhir dance if they won, especially since Sunil (Sunil Narine) had already danced in celebration. He extended his gratitude to everyone involved, wishing them good health and expressing optimism for their future endeavors.
“I just have one request which is my special thanks to GG. I’ve not thanked him specially. We had decided when we started that maybe we can make him dance. Sunil has already crossed that and danced, so we have to make Gigi dance tonight. Thank you, everybody. You guys are lovely. God bless you, just stay healthy, and wherever we go ahead from here onwards,” said SRK.
