In the 49th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, cricket fans witnessed an exciting clash between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday. The match showcased a masterclass from the Punjab, who clinched victory by 7 wickets over Chennai, marking their fifth consecutive win against the Yellow Army. Bairstow contributed 46 runs off 30 balls, while Rossouw added 43 runs off 23 deliveries, showcasing his prowess with 5 boundaries and 2 sixes.

However, Rossouw’s innings came to an abrupt end in the 12th over when he fell victim to Shardul Thakur‘s delivery. Shardul, known for his variations, bowled a slower delivery that turned into a full toss outside off stump. While the South African stalwart typically dispatches such deliveries with ease, this time he ended up chopping the ball onto his stumps, ending his promising innings.

The frustration of Rossouw was palpable as he shouted in anger upon his dismissal. His disappointment was further evident as he slammed his bat onto his pads in anger, visibly upset with himself for squandering the opportunity after a strong start to his innings.

Earlier, Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar displayed outstanding bowling skills to keep CSK batters at bay. Chahar conceded 16 runs and bagged 2 wickets in 4 overs. Similarly, Brar gave away 17 runs only while taking a couple of scalps in his quota of 4 overs. For the home team, only captain Ruturaj Gaikwad showed some positive signs as he ended up smashing 62 off 48 with the help of 5 boundaries and 2 sixes.
