Despite the passage of many years, Lara’s records continue to tower, unchallenged by any other batter. However, Lara remains open to the possibility of the younger generation of cricketers achieving the seemingly impossible. Recently, the former West Indies skipper identified a young player whom he believes has the potential to surpass his records in international cricket.

Lara has put forth a significant assertion regarding India’s emerging batting talent, Yashasvi Jaiswal, suggesting that Jaiswal has the potential to surpass all of his records. Notably, the 22-year-old has been making remarkable progress in his career, particularly highlighted by his record-breaking IPL season in 2023. During that season, Jaiswal accumulated 625 runs from 14 innings, boasting an average of 48.07 and a strike rate of 163.61. In the current edition, Jaiswal has scored 320 runs in 11 matches with one century and a fifty.

“If I feel my records are threatened, Jaiswal has got a very good chance to do so. He has got capabilities, couple of double hundreds already. He is that good,” said Lara as quoted by PTI.
