After featuring in 16 IPL matches between 2019 and 2021, Abhishek’s career took off in 2022. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) promoted him to the opening slot, a move that transformed his fortunes. He amassed a remarkable 426 runs that season with a blazing strike rate exceeding 130, including two well-compiled fifties. While he played fewer matches last year (11), his strike rate continued to climb, reaching an impressive 140+.
The ongoing IPL 2024 has further cemented Sharma’s status as a rising star. He has already piled up 401 runs at an astonishing strike rate of over 205. His highest score of 75 not out came against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) just a day ago.
Keeping his personal life private?
While Abhishek’s cricketing exploits grab the headlines, his personal life remains shrouded in secrecy. Rumours have swirled about a potential relationship with Diya Mehta, a former Miss Rajasthan runner-up (2019).

The speculation intensified after Diya, a model and fashion stylist, was spotted with Abhishek during a recent SRH photoshoot.
Further fuelling the rumours, the suspected mystery girl shared a playful Instagram story featuring Abhishek, with a caption hinting at happiness.
“Is your name Abhishek Sharma, because when I see you, I feel like I’ve hit a century of happiness.””
However, there’s no official confirmation from either Abhishek or Diya regarding their relationship status. It appears Sharma prefers to keep his private life separate from his cricketing career.
