The West Indies are gearing up to host South Africa for a three-match T20I series starting on Thursday (May 23) at Sabina Park in Jamaica. Brandon King will lead the side in the absence of regular captain Rovman Powell, who, along with other key cricketers, is currently involved in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Additionally, seasoned campaigner Shai Hope and Brandon King have been given a rest ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

West Indies’ recent performance

Currently ranked 6th in the ICC Men’s T20 Team Rankings, the West Indies have been a formidable force in the shortest format of the game. Their last T20I series against Australia in February this year ended in a 2-1 defeat, but the West Indies displayed resilience and competitiveness throughout the series, particularly noteworthy as it was an away series. Despite the loss, their strong performance indicates their potential to bounce back and perform well against South Africa.
