Australian opener David Warner has shed light on his hilarious mix-up during the T20 World Cup 2024 match against Oman.

A viral moment

Warner’s absentmindedness became an instant internet hit during Australia’s thumping victory over Oman on Wednesday. After being dismissed in the 19th over, Warner, seemingly on autopilot, started walking towards the Oman dressing room before realizing his mistake and quickly changing course.

Exhaustion takes toll on David Warner

Speaking to reporters ahead of the England clash, Warner, known for his on-field intensity, admitted his blunder was a consequence of pure exhaustion. “I did not even notice. I was exhausted. So, I did not even think about it. I did not even know what was happening. I thought someone was calling me back.”

Warner’s take on facing the English pace duo

Warner’s focus, however, remains firmly on the tournament. Australia will be looking to continue their winning streak as they progress through the group stage.

Looking ahead to the match against England, Warner downplayed the threat posed by fast bowlers Mark Wood and Jofra Archer.

“You just have to use their pace. Test cricket they set different fields, different balls. In Twenty20 cricket, you only have to get half an edge on it and it can go. So there’s a fair difference,” Warner said.

Meanwhile, England, still seeking their first win in the tournament after their match against Scotland was abandoned due to rain, will face Australia on Saturday at Kensington Oval in Barbados.
