Recently, Rashid participated in a Question and Answer session organized by England Cricket on X (formerly known as Twitter). The session invited fans to ask their favourite questions, providing a unique opportunity for them to interact with one of their cricketing heroes.

Adil Rashid’s favourite wicket

During the Q&A, Rashid was asked to reveal his favourite wicket. The leg-spinner chose his dismissal of Virat Kohli during India’s tour of England in 2018. In the third ODI at Headingley, Rashid bowled a spectacular delivery that pitched on leg stump, turned sharply past Kohli’s outside edge, and hit the off-stump. The delivery was reminiscent of Shane Warne‘s famous ‘Ball of the Century’ to Mike Gatting in 1993.

“I think my favourite wicket has to be Virat Kohli at Headingley in an ODI game,” Rashid said in a video shared by England Cricket.

Batters who gave Rashid sleepless nights

In the same session, Rashid was asked about the batters who posed the greatest challenges to him. He named South African legend AB de Villiers and West Indies superstar Chris Gayle as the batters who gave him sleepless nights.

“I think there have been a few in the past like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle. They are definitely world-class players, the best that the world has ever seen in a T20 format,” Rashid remarked.

Impressive record in international cricket

Rashid has an impressive record in international cricket. He has played 19 Tests, 135 ODIs, and 107 T20Is for England, taking 60, 199, and 110 wickets respectively. His contributions have been vital in England’s successes across all formats of the game.

Expectations for the T20 World Cup 2024

Currently, Rashid is with the England squad in the West Indies and USA for the T20 World Cup 2024. As the defending champions of the global showpiece event, expectations are high for Rashid and the England team.
