The cricketing world is eagerly anticipating an enthralling spectacle, starting with co-hosts United States of America (USA) facing Canada in the opener, followed by the West Indies taking on Papua New Guinea (PNG) later the same day.
A historic participation
This edition marks a significant milestone as it is the first time the USA, Canada and Uganda are participating in a men’s T20 World Cup. This expansion of the tournament, from 20 for this edition to 16 in the previous one in 2022, reflects the growing popularity and reach of cricket globally. Misbah ul Haq’s top contenders for T20 World Cup 2024 title
As the tournament draws near, cricket experts are weighing in with their predictions. Former Pakistan captain and par of the 2009 winning team, Misbah-ul-Haq shared his insights on the strongest contenders for the T20 World Cup 2024. When asked to pick his top two contenders, Misbah provided a unique perspective.
“The safest bet I think would be Australia. They know how to win, whatever the conditions. They come to Asia and win by playing with just one spinner. You can’t write off Australia from any World Cup,” Mishab was quoted as saying by NDTV.
A nod to loyalty
When it came to selecting his second top contender, Misbah’s response highlighted a blend of professional insight and national pride.
“The second team is very difficult. Humein Pakistan mein rehna hai, toh Pakistan ko back karna hoga. India ka team badi strong hai, sara kuch hai ( If we have to live in Pakistan, then we have to back Pakistan. India’s team is very strong, they have everything),” Misbah concluded.
