Ahead of the tournament, various cricket experts have shared their predictions for the semifinalists on Star Sports. Former South African all-rounder Chris Morris also shared his predictions in an interview with Star Sports, naming India, South Africa, Pakistan and Australia as his top four teams for the tournament.
Morris emphasized that India’s players are in excellent form, particularly following the IPL, and noted that the team’s depth and versatility make them strong contenders. He also highlighted South Africa’s well-balanced squad, suggesting they have the best chance to win this year with their combination of experienced and young talent. Known for their ability to perform in major tournaments, Pakistan are seen as a formidable opponent capable of making deep runs in the competition. Described by Morris as playing “dangerous cricket” in the IPL, Australia’s aggressive style and powerful lineup make them a formidable team.
“India have to be there as Indian players are in good form as they are coming from a big event like IPL. South Africa has the best chance to win the tournament this year as they have the right combination of players. You can never count out Pakistan as they are a big tournament team. Australia would be my fourth pick as they are playing dangerous cricket in IPL,” Morris said.
