England made a strong comeback in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with a crushing victory over Oman at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Thursday. Opting to bowl first, England’s pace and spin attack proved too much for Oman’s batsmen, dismissing them for a paltry 47 runs in 13.2 overs.

Oman Crumbles Under England’s Bowling Might

Openers Pratik Athavale and Kashyap Prajapati offered some early resistance, but once they departed, the Oman batting order collapsed. Jofra Archer (3/12), Mark Wood (3/12), and Adil Rashid (4/11) shared nine wickets between them, showcasing England’s bowling depth. Shoaib Khan (11 off 23) was the only Oman batsman to reach double digits.

England Chases the Target with Ease

Chasing a modest target of 48 runs, England openers Phil Salt (12 off 3) and Jos Buttler (24 not out off 8) took the attack to the Oman bowlers. After Salt’s dismissal, soon Will Jacks departed for 5. Buttler and Jonny Bairstow (8* off 2) finished the job with minimal fuss, reaching the target in just 3.1 overs with eight wickets in hand.

This was a record win for a team at the T20 World Cup in terms of balls remaining.

Player of the Match

Adil Rashid’s exceptional bowling performance earned him the Player of the Match award. His control and variation proved unplayable for the Oman batters.
