The defending champions of the previous edition of T20 World Cup in 2022, England, are taking on Scotland in the sixth match of the global showpiece event at Kensington Oval, Barbados. Scotland skipper Richie Berrington won the toss and chose to field first, hoping to leverage the fresh wicket and inclement weather conditions.

The reason behind the absence of Sam Curran

England’s powerhouse batting line features the likes of the skipper Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Will Jacks and Jonny Bairstow. As per bowling, they have a world-class leg-spinner in Adil Rashid and a balanced seam attack featuring the likes of Jofra Archer and Mark Wood. However, in a big surprise, they decided to not to go with their Player of the Tournament of the last edition and an ace all-rounder, Sam Curran. Although, the reason was not made clear at the toss, strengthening their fast-bowling attack could be the factor.

“Everyone’s really excited to get going. It was a 50-50 call but we’ve gone for the extra pace of Wood today,” Buttler said at the time of toss.
