Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to field first. The selection for today’s match has raised eyebrows due to the absence of several notable players.
Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson, Yashasvi Jaiswal miss out
India’s lineup for the match includes an interesting mix of players. They have opted for four seamers, including Hardik Pandya, and have retained their spin options with all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. However, specialist spinners like Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were not included in the squad. Additionally, Sanju Samson was left out in favor of Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper, disappointing many fans.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to open
The decision to exclude Yashasvi Jaiswal meant that Rohit and Virat Kohli will open the batting for India. While Rohit did not provide a detailed explanation for the exclusions, he indicated that the team prioritized a strong seam attack, given the presence of spinning all-rounders Axar and Jadeja.

“We’re going to bowl. Preparations have been alright. Have been managing ourselves in these new conditions. Has been challenging but we are all professionals. We played on a similar pitch and do know what to expect a little bit. I know it’s going to be slightly different from what we’re used to. But that’s what the sport is. Not sure about the conditions too much, so thought having a target in front of us would be good. Guys missing out are Kuldeep, Sanju, Jaiswal and one more,” said Rohit at the toss.
