Dravid reflects on the historic win

Dravid, reflecting on Team India’s triumph, described it as a culmination of a meticulous two-year journey. Emphasizing the process of team construction and skill development since he took charge in 2021, Dravid highlighted that the victory represented more than just winning a single tournament. It symbolized the growth, resilience, and collective effort of the team over a significant period. Dravid’s sentiments underscored the depth of emotional investment he and the players had in achieving success on the global stage.

“This was a journey of 2 years, this T20 World Cup. The construction of this team and the kind of skills we wanted, the players we wanted. The discussions started when I started in 2021 and this is not the work of just this World Cup win as it feels like a journey of 2 years,” said Dravid after the game.

Gratitude for Coaching Success

Expressing gratitude for winning an ICC trophy as a head coach, Dravid acknowledged that while he did not achieve such success as a player, coaching this team to victory was immensely fulfilling. He credited the players for their dedication and hard work, emphasizing that their efforts made the achievement possible.

“As a player, I was not lucky enough to win a trophy but I gave my best and I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity to coach a team, I was lucky that this bunch of boys made it possible for me to be able to win this trophy. It is a great feeling, it is not like I was aiming for some redemption, it was the job I was doing and it has been a great journey,” Dravid said
