As the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 intensifies, Team India are gearing up for their crucial Super Eight clash against Afghanistan. The atmosphere at Kensington Oval, Barbados, was electric on Tuesday as the team went through their rigorous training session, sharpening their skills and strategies for the upcoming match. The encounter is set to be a significant test for India, given Afghanistan’s impressive performance in the tournament so far.
West Indies legend Sir Wesley Hall graces Indian training camp
Adding a touch of history and inspiration to the Indian camp, legendary West Indian pacer Sir Wesley Hall made a surprise visit. Known for his fiery bowling during his cricketing days, the 86-year-old Hall’s presence was a source of immense pride and motivation for the Indian players. His visit symbolized the bridging of generations and the passing on of cricketing wisdom.
A memorable encounter with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma
Sir Wesley Hall didn’t just stop by for a cursory visit. He engaged in a heartfelt conversation with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and star batter Virat Kohli after their training session. Hall presented both cricketers with copies of his book, ‘Answering to the Call,’ a gesture that was deeply appreciated by the Indian stalwarts. The moment was a blend of nostalgia and mutual respect, underscoring the timeless nature of cricketing camaraderie.

Hall’s special request to Kohli
During his interaction, Hall heaped praise on Rohit, calling him a ‘great player,’ and then turned his attention to Kohli with a special request. Acknowledging Kohli’s illustrious career and his impressive tally of international centuries, Hall encouraged the Indian talisman to continue adding to his record.
“I’ve seen many great players bat, you’re right up there. I follow your stats, so I know you’re on some 80 centuries. Get some centuries,” stated Hall to Kohli.
The request comes at a crucial time as Kohli has had a challenging campaign in the T20 World Cup so far, with scores of 1, 4, and 0 in his last three innings. As India prepare to take on a resurgent Afghanistan side, the former India skipper will be looking to regain his form and lead his team to victory.
