Early setback for the West Indies

The pair added 53 runs for the first wicket before England responded by taking three quick wickets, reducing the Windies to 84/3. Despite this setback, a resilient century partnership between Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge revitalized the Caribbean side. The duo amassed 175 runs for the fourth wicket, both making significant contributions.

Kavem Hodge’s maiden century

Athanaze was eventually dismissed for a well-played 82, but Hodge continued to shine, achieving a landmark century. On the fourth ball of the 66th over, Hodge drove the ball past mid-off for a boundary, reaching his maiden hundred in style.

His celebration was a moment of pure elation, as he lifted his arms, pumped his fist, and leaped into the air, soaking in the applause from the crowd. Hodge’s century was not just a personal milestone but a crucial innings that put the West Indies in a strong position. Hodge ended up scoring 120 runs off 171 balls, including 19 boundaries.
