Pandya delivered significant contributions with both bat and ball. Batting in crucial situations, he accumulated 144 runs at an impressive strike rate exceeding 150. His bowling was equally impactful, taking 11 wickets throughout the tournament.

His most memorable performance was in the final, where he sparked a dramatic South African collapse. With South Africa needing just 30 runs from 30 balls and Heinrich Klaasen in full swing, Pandya dismissed Klaasen on the first ball of the 17th over. He then bowled a nail-biting final over, defending 16 runs to secure a seven-run victory for India and clinch their second T20 World Cup title.

Following his stellar performances, Pandya ascended two places in the ICC T20I all-rounder rankings, becoming the first Indian to achieve the top spot. He now shares this position with Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga.
