The T20Is will take place at Pallekele on July 27th, 29th, and 30th, providing an exciting start to the series in a venue known for its vibrant atmosphere and cricketing tradition. Coaching transition and India’s squad selection

India’s coaching setup has undergone a notable change with Gautam Gambhir stepping in as the new head coach following Rahul Dravid‘s departure post the T20 World Cup 2024.

Reports from Hindustan Times indicated that Gambhir, alongside chief selector Ajit Agarkar, will convene next week to finalize the squad for the series.  This process will likely see the return of key players like Hardik Pandya, poised to lead the T20 squad, and the comeback of seasoned campaigners Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul in the ODI format according to the reports.

Changes in Sri Lankan cricket

On the Sri Lankan front, Chris Silverwood resigned as coach after the recently concluded T20 World Cup tournament, prompting Sanath Jayasuriya to take up the interim coaching role. In a further shake-up, Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down as captain following a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign. These developments underscore a period of transition and renewal within the Sri Lankan cricketing setup, as they prepare for new challenges ahead.
