Gujarat Titans (GT) are poised for significant changes as they approach the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. Head coach Ashish Nehra and Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki, who played crucial roles in GT’s title-winning debut season under Hardik Pandya, are reportedly set to leave the franchise.
Yuvraj Singh for a key role in the IPL 2025
According to a report by News18 CricketNext, Yuvraj Singh, a key figure in India’s T20 World Cup 2007 victory, is being considered for a prominent role within GT’s coaching staff. With several changes anticipated, this move comes as Gary Kirsten, GT’s mentor, is currently coaching Pakistan’s limited-overs teams. With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is slated for February-March, Kirsten potentially won’t be available for GT.
“There are many changes on the horizon. Ashish Nehra and Vikram Solanki are likely to move on, and discussions about Yuvraj Singh have already begun. Nothing is finalized yet, but major changes in the coaching staff of the Gujarat Titans are expected,” the source was quoted as saying by the News18 CricketNext.

Yuvraj Singh’s IPL background
Yuvraj, who last played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2019, brings a wealth of experience. Throughout his IPL career, he played 132 matches, amassing 2,750 runs at an average of 24.77, including 13 half-centuries. Additionally, he has taken 36 wickets, including two hat-tricks, highlighting his all-round prowess.
Controversial transfers and leadership changes
GT’s last season was disrupted by controversy and challenges. Hardik Pandya‘s return to MI in a contentious transfer left the team without their star leader. Under Shubman Gill‘s captaincy, GT failed to qualify for the playoffs. The absence of key bowler Mohammed Shami also significantly impacted their performance. Despite a disappointing season, Gill, who recently became India’s vice-captain in the white-ball format, will continue to lead the team next season.
