The Pakistan cricket team is facing severe criticism and significant changes following their disappointing performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team failed to qualify for the Super Eight stage of the tournament, suffering defeats against arch-rivals India and the USA.

In response to the team’s underwhelming performance, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced stringent measures to revamp the squad. PCB Chairman Syed Moshin Naqvi has revealed plans for a comprehensive strategic restructuring aimed at rebuilding the team’s competitiveness and morale.
Three of Pakistan’s prominent cricketers, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi, have been strategically withheld from participating in the Global T20 Canada League to ensure they focus on restoring Pakistan’s cricketing reputation in the longer format. In a move to recalibrate the team dynamics, several players have been granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to participate in various international leagues. The PCB aims to provide these players with opportunities to gain experience and exposure, which can be beneficial for their growth and the team’s future performance.
