Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma added a touch of glamour to the Wimbledon 2024 scene, attending the men’s semifinal clash between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev. The official Wimbledon social media accounts welcomed the 37-year-old, who looked sharp in a black suit and sunglasses.

Cricketers flock to Wimbledon

Rohit isn’t the only cricketer drawn to the prestigious tournament. In recent weeks, fans have spotted legends like Sachin Tendulkar and current stars like Dinesh Kartik, Ben Stokes, Pat Cummins, Jos Buttler and Joe Root taking in the action.

With India currently competing against the hosts Zimbabwe and Rohit retiring from the T20 internationals, he embraced the opportunity to spend time with his family in London while enjoying some high-octane tennis.

Fresh off his stellar performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit continues to be a force to be reckoned with. He finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer with 257 runs, leading the Indian batting charge. Also, his captaincy proved pivotal in India’s thrilling seven-run victory over South Africa in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Rohit Sharma’s Tennis hero

When asked about his all-time favourite Tennis player, Rohit readily named Roger Federer.

“Just the person he is… more than the icon, more than the player he is,” Rohit explained, admiring Federer’s enduring humility despite his remarkable career achievements.

“Just the humility he brings. [You know] after winning so much of it, the way he is off the court and how he treats himself on the court as well, I just love that,” the Mumbaikar added.

Rohit’s presence at Wimbledon further demonstrates the growing connection between cricket and tennis, attracting a global audience of sports enthusiasts.
