England Women secured a convincing victory in the fourth T20I against New Zealand Women, taking an unaccessible 4-0 lead in the series.
New Zealand batters struggle against England’s tight bowling
Opting to bat first, New Zealand were restricted for a paltry total of 103/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Their batting struggled to find momentum against a disciplined bowling attack from England. Maddy Green (24 runs) and Izzy Gaze (25 runs) were the only players to manage scores in the twenties, while the rest of the lineup faltered. For England, Sarah Glenn (4/19) was the wrecker-in-chief, claiming four crucial wickets, while Sophie Ecclestone (2/16) chipped in with two wickets.
England seals an easy win
Chasing a modest target, the England Women openers, Danielle Wyatt (26 runs) and Sophia Dunkley (26 runs), provided a solid start with a 52-run partnership. Although they lost a few wickets in the middle overs, Natalie Sciver (17 not out) and Heather Knight (14 not out) ensured there were no further hiccups, guiding England to a comfortable victory with seven wickets and 51 balls to spare.
Player of the Match
For her outstanding bowling performance, left-arm spinner Sarah Glenn was adjudged the Player of the Match. Her four wickets effectively restricted the New Zealand batting line-up and laid the foundation for England’s win.
