The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024-25, which will kick off on September 5. The tournament, a cornerstone of India’s domestic red-ball season, will be held across two venues: Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Notable absences and key players

The Duleep Trophy, which marks the start of India’s domestic red-ball season, will feature a mix of experienced international stars and emerging talent. While prominent figures like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are not part of the initial squads, several key players are set to participate, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Shreyas Iyer. Notably, players selected for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy squads. Additionally, Nitish Kumar Reddy‘s involvement is subject to fitness considerations.

“The Men’s Selection Committee announced the squads for the first round of the Duleep Trophy, 2024-25. This tournament marks the beginning of the red-ball cricket season and features a mix of top international players and emerging talent. The action will commence on September 5, 2024, in Anantapur and at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The athletes who will be selected to represent India for the home Test series against Bangladesh will be replaced in the Duleep Trophy. Nitish Kumar Reddy’s participation in the Duleep Trophy is subject to fitness,” the BCCI stated in a a statement shared on X.

  • Team A: Shubman Gill (c), Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Vidwath Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat.
  • Team B: Abhimanyu Easwaran (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (wk).
