The 12th edtion of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is set to begin on Thursday (August 29), marking the start of another thrilling season of T20 cricket.
CPL 2024 kick off with high expectations
The opening match will feature Antigua and Barbuda Falcons taking on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The tournament will see six teams – Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Royals and Saint Lucia Kings – competing for the coveted title. Over the course of the league phase, a total of 30 matches will be played, leading up to the Eliminator on October 1. The Qualifier 1 and 2 will take place on October 2 and 4, respectively, with the grand finale scheduled for Sunday, October 6, at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Trinbago Knight Riders: A team with unfinished business
The Knight Riders, one of the most successful franchises in CPL history, are entering the 2024 season with a strong desire for redemption. After suffering a heartbreaking loss in the CPL 2023 final to the Amazon Warriors, the Knight Riders will be more determined than ever to reclaim the championship. The Knight Riders has been a dominant force in the CPL since its inception, reaching the final five times and winning the title on four occasions. Their last triumph came in 2020 when they went unbeaten throughout the tournament. This year, the team has made significant changes to its squad, further bolstering its chances of success.

Star-studded lineup to lead TKR’s charge
TKR’s squad for CPL 2024 is packed with some of the biggest names in T20 cricket, making them one of the most formidable teams in the competition. The lineup includes veterans like Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Nicholas Pooran, and Sunil Narine. Andre Russell, who was recently rested during West Indies’ home T20I series against South Africa, is set to return to action in the CPL, adding immense firepower to the team. With such a star-studded roster, the Knight Riders is expected to be one of the top contenders for the title.
