The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the schedule for the warm-up fixtures for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. The practice games are set to take place from Saturday, September 28, to Tuesday, October 1, in the United Arab Emirates. This will provide all 10 participating teams an opportunity to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the tournament.
Format and schedule of warm-up games
In total, each of the 10 qualified teams will participate in two warm-up matches during this period. These practice games will consist of 20 overs per side but will not be granted international T20 status. This format allows teams to field all members of their 15-player squad without impacting their official records.
The warm-up fixtures are designed to give teams a chance to adapt to the conditions in the UAE and test their strategies before the competition begins. Importantly, no teams from the same group will play against each other during these warm-ups.
Key fixtures and matchups
The warm-up matches will commence on September 28, with Pakistan facing Scotland and Sri Lanka going up against Bangladesh. The following day, Australia will take on England in a highly anticipated clash, while India will compete against the 2016 T20 World Cup champions, the West Indies.
The warm-up fixtures will provide valuable insights and allow teams to adjust their game plans in preparation for the main event of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
