The hosts were in a dire situation in the ongoing first ODI between Sri Lanka and India, having lost five wickets for just 100 runs. They were in desperate need of a turnaround. Sri Lanka’s sole hope rested on Pathum Nissanka, who was in form and had scored a fifty. Nissanka aimed for a century and set a respectable total for his team before Washington Sundar dismissed him with a sharp delivery that trapped him in front of the wicket.
Washington Sundar’s magical delivery ends Pathum Nissanka’s knock
On the third ball of the 27th over, Sundar delivered a good-length ball that hit a rough patch and spun sharply. Nissanka was caught off guard by the turn and was given out LBW by the on-field umpire.
Nissanka opted for a referral to the third umpire, but the umpire’s call upheld the decision, ending his innings. After the dismissal, Sundar was seen laughing with umpire Joel Wilson.

Sri Lanka post fighting total after early setbacks
Sundar is having an exceptional series as he shone with the ball and the bat in the third and final T20I against Sri Lanka. He was the player of the match for his 25 (18) with the bat and a two-wicket haul. He also bowled the crucial super-over and took two wickets.
Talking about the ongoing game, Sri Lanka started poorly after fall of early wickets. However Nissanka and Dunith Wellalage staged a comeback with handsome contributions. While Nissanka scored 56 off 75 balls, Wellalage remained unbeaten at 67 runs (including 7 fours and 2 sixes) to take the Islanders to 230/8 in 50 overs.
