Birmingham Phoenix soars past Southern Brave to end losing streak

Birmingham Phoenix registered a convincing 16-run victory over Southern Brave at Edgbaston on Saturday. Captain Ellyse Perry was the catalyst for Phoenix, inspiring them to their second consecutive win in The Hundred Women.

Both teams entered the match at the bottom of the table, making it a crucial encounter. Phoenix, batting first, recovered from an early double strike by teenage spinner Tilly Corteen-Coleman to post a competitive 137-7. Amy Jones’ half-century and a late cameo from Emily Arlott propelled them to a respectable total.

Perry then produced a match-winning spell, removing key batters Mandhana, Maia Bouchier, and Georgia Adams in quick succession. The Brave were unable to recover from the early setbacks, as Phoenix’s bowlers maintained a tight grip on the game.

The win lifts Phoenix off the bottom of the table and gives them renewed hope of qualifying for the knockout stages.
