Indian star Prithvi Shaw once again exhibited his batting brilliance in the England’s domestic tournament. Representing Northamptonshire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup 2024, Shaw came all guns blazing in the Group A game against Durham at Chester-le-Street.

In the game where Northamptonshire elected to bat first, Shaw, opening the batting, gave his team a brilliant start. Despite losing his opening partner Ricardo Vasconcelos early, Shaw continued his aggression and kept on tickling the scoreboard.
The right-handed batter smashed 16 boundaries and a six during his whirlwind knock. He ended up scoring 97 from 71 deliveries and guided his side to a respectable total of 260 in their allotted 50 overs.

Shaw’s innings in vain as Durham beat Northamptonshire
While Shaw’s brilliant knock grabbed the attention, Colin Ackermann made his presence visible with a splendid knock. He made his first List A century for Durham and led the team to a remarkable run-chase. Ackermann scored 108 as the home team overhauled the Northamptonshire’s 260 with 11 balls to spare.
Apart from Ackermann, captain Alex Lees also shined with the bat, smashing a sensation half-century. He ended up scoring 55 with the help of 5 boundaries. Further, Scott Borthwick made splendid contribution with 36-ball 42-run knock to help his side cruise and finish over the line.
Speaking about the competition standings, Northamptonshire are yet to open their account. They have played 4 games and suffered defeats in all those games and are placed at the eighth position. Durham, on the other hand, are positioned at sixth after winning 2 games from 4 matches in the tournament.
