Travis Head slams Sam Curran for 30 runs in an over
Australia, who were asked to bat first, went on to post 179 in 19.3 overs with Travis Head leading the batting unit. The star Australian batter, known for his explosive batting showdowns, took English bowlers to the cleaners, smashing 59 runs from 23 deliveries. With a strike rate of 256.52, Head slammed 8 fours and 4 humungous sixes.
Head, in particular, targeted England all-rounder Sam Curran, collecting as many as 30 runs off the Englishman’s over. The eye-catching incident happened when Curran was asked to bowl the 5th over of Australian innings. Head smashed two fours and three sixes in the first five deliveries before finishing off the over with a boundary to collect 30 runs.
Here is how the over went:
- 4.1: Curran to Head, FOUR. A slower bouncer onto off, Head waited and swatted it across the line to the left of mid-on for a boundary.
- 4.2: Curran to Head, FOUR. Bowled on a good length, Head made a bit room for himself and cut it through extra cover for a boundary.
- 4.3: Curran to Head, SIX. Short of a length delivery and Head smashed it over deep backward square leg for a six.
- 4.4: Curran to Head, SIX. This time the bowler pitched a little fuller at the stumps but Head cleared the front leg and smoked the white leather over deep mid-wicket for a biggie.
- 4.5: Curran to Head, SIX. The bowler went for a full and wide delivery and Head went on his knees slicing it over deep point for a maximum.
- 4.6: Curran to Head, FOUR. Overpitched outside off ball and the batter smashed it over extra cover for a boundary to complete 30 runs in an over.

Australia triumphs in high-scoring clash
Batting first, Australia posted 179 all out in 19.3 overs, powered by Head’s explosive 59 off 23 balls and Matthew Short‘s 41. England’s bowling unit, led by Liam Livingstone‘s 3/22 and Jofra Archer‘s 2/31, did well to restrict Australia, but failed to contain the big hitters early on.
In response, England struggled to build momentum, with Livingstone’s 37 off 27 their top score. Australia’s disciplined bowling, particularly from Sean Abbott (3/28) and Adam Zampa (2/20), kept England in check, dismissing them for 151 in 19.2 overs. Head was named Player of the Match for his blistering knock.
