The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 saw two exciting back-to-back encounters, with Barbados Royals and Saint Lucia Kings emerging victorious in entertatining games. In Match 4, Barbados Royals dominated Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, chasing down a target of 146 with ease, thanks to a brilliant knock from the South African star.

Similarly, Match 5 witnessed another thrilling chase as Saint Lucia Kings overhauled a massive total of 201 set by St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, powered by explosive innings from Sri Lanka batter and New Zealand icon. Both teams showcased their firepower, setting the tone for an exciting tournament.

Barbados Royals dominate Antigua and Barbuda

Barbados Royals put on a commanding performance to defeat Antigua and Barbuda by nine wickets in the fourth match of the Caribbean Premier League 2024. Antigua and Barbuda, after being put in to bat, struggled to gain momentum and posted a total of 145/9 in their 20 overs.

Jewel Andrew was the standout performer for Antigua and Barbuda, scoring 48 off 35 balls, while Fakhar Zaman contributed 17 off 11. Despite their efforts, the team was unable to build meaningful partnerships, with Barbados Royals’ bowlers delivering a disciplined performance.

Maheesh Theekshana led the Royals’ bowling attack, taking 2/21, while Obed McCoy was the pick of the bowlers with 3/31. Jason Holder also played a key role, picking up two wickets for 24 runs.

Quinton de Kock shines with the bat

In response, Barbados Royals made light work of the chase, reaching the target in just 15.3 overs with nine wickets in hand. Quinton de Kock was the star of the innings, smashing an unbeaten 87 off 45 balls, supported by Rahkeem Cornwall’s quickfire 34 off 20.

Antigua and Barbuda’s bowlers struggled to contain the Royals’ aggressive batting, with Imad Wasim the only one to pick up a wicket. Barbados Royals’ dominant performance secured them a comfortable win, and De Kock’s brilliance earned him the Player of the Match award.

Saint Lucia Kings clinch thrilling victory over St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

In the fifth match of the CPL 2024, Saint Lucia Kings claimed a thrilling five-wicket victory over St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in a high-scoring encounter. Batting first, the Patriots posted a formidable total of 201/3, thanks to a scintillating century from Evin Lewis. Lewis was in full flow, scoring 100 off 54 balls with seven boundaries and nine sixes.

Kyle Mayers also played a crucial role, smashing 92 off 62 balls, as the two openers laid a strong foundation for their side. However, the Patriots lost momentum towards the end, as David Wiese picked up two wickets for 29 runs, and Noor Ahmad bowled economically, conceding only 20 runs in his four overs.

Tim Seifert takes Saint Lucia over the finish line

Despite the challenging target, Saint Lucia Kings chased down the score with ease, reaching 202/5 in 17.2 overs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s blistering 68 off 35 balls and Tim Seifert‘s explosive 64 off 27 balls powered the Kings to victory. Wiese provided the finishing touches with a quickfire 34 off 20 deliveries. Mayers shone with the ball as well, taking 2/38, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Kings from achieving their target.
