Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has commented on the struggles of the Pakistan cricket team, attributing their difficulties to a “lack of talent in the country.” On the other hand former Indian captain also praised the legendary greats from the old Pakistan team.

Adding to the turmoil are reports suggesting there might be internal rifts among team members, although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has firmly denied these allegations.
The broader concern following Pakistan’s 0-2 series defeat is that the team is failing to perform up to its potential. This has sparked a debate about the underlying issues affecting the team. Ganguly has weighed in on the situation, attributing the team’s struggles to a dearth of talent in the country, suggesting that a lack of quality players is at the heart of their poor performance.

Sourav Ganguly delivers stern reality check to PCB
With Pakistan cricket reaching a new low following their Test series loss to Bangladesh, Ganguly has expressed his concerns about the current state of the team. He believes that Pakistan is experiencing a deficiency of talent, a sharp contrast to the past when the team boasted legendary players such as Javed Miandad, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis. These players were instrumental in the team’s success and formed the backbone of a formidable squad. Ganguly’s comments highlight the significant gap between the current team’s performance and the high standards set during the era of these cricketing greats.
“I see a genuine dearth of talent in the country. Every time we think of Pakistan , we remember Miandad, Wasim, Waqar, Saeed Anwar, Mohammad Yousuf, and Younis Khan. That’s the memory of Pakistan for us, but that doesn’t win matches in the modern generation of cricket,” said Ganguly as quoted by Republic.
Ganguly further stated that he has been continuously observing the neighboring country since last year’s World Cup in India then during T20 World Cup in West Indies and now their home series against Bangladesh.
“Every generation has to produce outstanding players to win, and when I look at Pakistan in world cricket — I saw them in the West Indies World Cup, in India during the World Cup, and now after the Bangladesh series loss — there is a dearth of talent in that country. The people connected with the sport in Pakistan will have to look into it. I’m not saying this with disrespect. Pakistan of the old had some great cricketers, which I don’t see in this squad,” Ganguly added.
