During the 25th match of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, Chris Jordan pulled off a spectacular catch to dismiss Kyle Mayers in the first innings of a high-stakes clash between Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SNP). The incredible display of athleticism occurred in the 11th over, as Jordan claimed a caught-and-bowled wicket that stunned both fans and players alike.

Chris Jordan’s jaw-dropping catch

Mayers, who was looking dangerous with the bat, attempted to flick a good-length delivery off Jordan, but the ball stopped on him slightly, causing him to mistime the shot. The ball flew in the air to the left of Jordan, who reacted instantly, diving across in his follow-through to complete a brilliant two-handed catch. The 35-year-old all-rounder’s quick reflexes and agility brought an end to Mayers’ blistering knock of 60 off just 30 balls, which included eight boundaries and three sixes.

This moment of brilliance was crucial in slowing down SNP’s momentum. Jordan, representing the Trinbago Knight Riders, played a pivotal role with the ball, claiming two important wickets in the match, including the dangerous Andre Fletcher.

Trinbago Knight Riders chase down the target with ease

Batting first, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots posted a formidable total of 193/4 in their 20 overs. Fletcher, the skipper, led from the front with a commanding innings of 93 runs off 61 balls, peppered with four boundaries and six towering sixes. His knock was instrumental in setting a challenging target of 194 for the Trinbago Knight Riders to chase.

In reply, Trinbago Knight Riders made light work of the challenging target, reaching 197/3 in just 18.3 overs to win the match by seven wickets. English opener Jason Roy was in blistering form, smashing 64 off 34 balls and giving TKR a flying start.

However, the star of the chase was Nicholas Pooran, who produced an explosive innings of 93 off just 43 deliveries. Pooran’s onslaught included six boundaries and seven massive sixes, striking at an incredible rate of 216.28. His dominant display of power hitting ensured TKR cruised to victory, sealing the match with 9 balls to spare.

For his match-winning knock, Pooran was named Player of the Match, adding yet another remarkable performance to his CPL resume.
