In a recent media interaction during an event for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, Ambrose was asked about his favourite cricketers. While most fans tend to name legendary batters like Sachin Tendulkar or Viv Richards as their favorites, Ambrose offered a different perspective and reckoned that Pakistan icon Wasim Akram was his favourite.

“Yes, I sometimes do feel that 90% of the time, fans pick batters,” Ambrose noted.

“I have played with some of the best batters in the world, but being a bowler, I will always lean towards a bowler. We have had some great bowlers, and Wasim Akram was one of my favourites,” he added.

Ambrose’s admiration for Akram is a testament to the Pakistani left-arm seamer’s skill and versatility. Akram, often regarded as one of the best fast bowlers of all time, earned respect from players and fans alike for his ability to swing the ball both ways and dominate in various conditions. Ambrose’s acknowledgment of the Pakistan great highlights the mutual respect between great fast bowlers.

Ambrose on any batter giving him sleepless nights

During the interaction, Ambrose was also asked if any batter ever gave him sleepless nights during his playing career. His response was simple yet revealing.

“No one,” Ambrose said with confidence.

“I have played cricket with some of the greats, but I never thought of cricket once I was out of the ground. Until the next morning when I had to go back to the field to do my job. So, as far as sleepless nights are concerned, absolutely no one,” Ambrose concluded.

The statement of Ambrose reflects his calm and composed mindset, even when facing some of the best batters in the world. His focus remained unwavering, both on and off the field, a trait that contributed to his success as a bowler. The West Indian legend’s ability to separate the pressures of the game from his personal life made him one of the most mentally tough players of his era.
