In Match 2 of the Women’s Delhi Premier League T20 2024, the North Delhi Strikers posted a formidable total of 135/4 in their 20 overs against the Central Delhi Queens. The innings was marked by significant individual performances and effective partnerships that set a challenging target for the opposition.

Key batting contributions for North Delhi Strikers

The Delhi Strikers’ innings was anchored by Upasana Yadav, who delivered a commanding performance with 78 runs from 62 balls, including 13 boundaries and 2 sixes. Her innings showcased consistent stroke play and aggressive intent, which was crucial for setting a formidable target. Supporting her was Ayushi Soni, who scored an unbeaten 38 from 43 deliveries, with 5 boundaries. Soni’s steady and resilient performance provided the necessary stability to the innings. Monika added a quick-fire 10 not out off 6 balls, including a six, which boosted the final overs and contributed to the total. Yadav’s dominant performance, Soni’s stability, and Monika’s late flourish combined to ensure a competitive total.

Neha Chillar’s double strike disrupts North Delhi Strikers

Neha Chillar played a pivotal role in the middle overs for the Delhi Queens by claiming two crucial wickets in consecutive deliveries. In the 18th over, Chillar removed Upasana, who had been the top scorer for the Strikers. Yadav, having anchored the innings with a composed 78, was dismissed when she attempted to heave a length ball for a maximum over long-off. The ball did not gain the distance needed and was caught brilliantly by Mayuri Singh.

On the very next ball, Chillar continued her impressive spell by dismissing Nazma. Chillar bowled a well-pitched delivery that Nazma attempted to hit over the leg side but missed completely, resulting in the ball rattling the stumps. Nazma was dismissed without scoring, leaving the Delhi Strikers at 113/4.

Central Delhi Queens’ bowling performance

Chhillar’s back-to-back wickets were crucial in halting the Strikers’ momentum and shifting the psychological advantage towards the Central Delhi Queens. The Queens’ bowlers delivered a mixed performance overall. Chhillar was particularly effective, claiming 2 wickets for 14 runs in her 2-over spell. Parunika Sisodia and Mahi Chauhan each took one wicket; Sisodia conceded 20 runs in 4 overs, while Chauhan gave away 32 runs in 4 overs. Ria Sharma and Armeet Kaur also contributed with economical spells, though they did not manage to secure any wickets.
