In cricket, discussions about the best bowlers across formats often stir passionate debate, with fans and experts weighing in on pacers and spinners who have excelled in Test, ODI, and T20 cricket. Narrowing down the list to a single name is never easy, yet Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell recently put forward his choice, highlighting a bowler he believes stands alone in versatility and dominance.
Maxwell, who has had an illustrious career facing some of the toughest bowlers in the world, shared that the concerned bowler is not only the most skillful across formats but also the one he has found most challenging to face on the field.

Maxwell didn’t hesitate to name India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, as his pick for the top bowler in all formats of the game. He emphasized that Bumrah has been the toughest bowler he has faced, praising his wide-ranging skills and consistency under pressure.
“I think Bumrah probably going to go down as the best all-format bowler of all time,” said Maxwell, in a video shared by ESPNcricinfo.

Maxwell identifies the unique attributes of the star pacer
Maxwell described Bumrah’s unique release point, where he delivers the ball from far in front of his body, giving the impression that he can adjust his line or length at the last moment. This technique, combined with Bumrah’s mastery of a deceptive slower ball, pinpoint yorkers, and the ability to swing the ball in both directions, makes him exceptionally challenging for batters.
The Victorian also highlighted Bumrah’s remarkable wrist action and instinct for spotting a batter’s weakness, noting that Bumrah has every skill expected from a top-level fast bowler.
“His release point, because he releases it from so far out in front of himself, almost feels like he can change where he’s bowling right at the last moment. Unbelievable slow ball, great yorker, has the ability to swing it both ways; he’s got a brilliant wrist, and he’s got a good sniff. It feels like he’s got all the tricks of a really good fast bowler,” Maxwell explained.
