Indian cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma recently shared his unique experience following the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 victory. Appearing on the popular Netflix show The Great Indian Kapil Show alongside teammates Suryakumar Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel, Rohit described the unusual circumstances surrounding their celebrations in the West Indies.

T20 World Cup trophy celebrations in the face of adversity

Rohit shared a memorable experience on the show after winning the T20 World Cup, describing how a hurricane in Barbados stranded the team in their hotel. To celebrate, each player took the trophy to their room for 15 minutes, where they posed for pictures and even slept with it.

After winning the T20 World Cup in West Indies, there was a hurricane in Barbados, so we were stuck in the hotel. So each of the boys took the Trophy to their rooms for 15 minutes, and they slept with the Trophy and clicked pictures with the Trophy.” Rohit said in The Great Indian Kapil Show.

Celebrating success with a family vacation

Currently enjoying a well-deserved vacation in Abu Dhabi with his wife Ritika Sajdeh, Rohit is taking some time off following the successful two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The captain’s break comes just in time for him to recharge before leading the Indian team in their next challenge.

While in Abu Dhabi, Rohit also had the opportunity to attend an NBA game featuring the Boston Celtics and the Denver Nuggets, further adding to his memorable trip. The experience of watching world-class basketball has surely enriched his time away from the cricket field.

Rohit will return to action as the captain of the Indian Test team in the upcoming three-match Test series against New Zealand, set to commence on October 16. His leadership and experience will be crucial as the team looks to maintain its competitive edge in international cricket
