In a dominant batting display, India equaled their best-ever powerplay score of 82 runs, a record they previously set against Scotland during the T20 World Cup in 2021.
Despite losing opener Abhishek Sharma early, the pair of Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav powered India to a blistering start. By the end of the first six overs, India had posted 82 for one, showcasing their aggressive intent from the outset.
Samson was the standout performer, smashing his maiden century in T20Is with a stunning 111 off just 47 balls. His knock was laced with fours and sixes, giving the Indian innings a much-needed boost. Skipper Suryakumar also played a crucial role, contributing a quickfire 75 from 35 balls before being dismissed.
