The altercation unfolds between Sufiyan Muqeem and Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek, who was in excellent form, scored 35 runs off 22 balls, helping India A to a strong start. However, his innings came to an abrupt end when he attempted an aggressive shot off Muqeem’s bowling. After mistiming a delivery, he offered a leading edge that was caught by Qasim Akram, dismissing Abhishek just after the powerplay with India at 68 for 1.
Following the wicket, Muqeem made a ‘silence gesture’ towards Abhishek, which did not sit well with the Indian opener. Abhishek responded by charging towards Muqeem in anger, leading to a tense exchange on the field. Umpires Chamara de Zoysa and Rahul Asher had to intervene to diffuse the situation and restore calm.
